“The Housatonic River begins its 149 mile journey in southwestern Massachusetts, and was home to the Mohican family of the Algonquin Indians. It flows by my house; I am witness to distant memories, past events, birth, death and re-birth. In autumn, I hear the voice of a thousand Canadian geese. In summer, a blue heron lies hidden in the dappled light. In winter, translucent ice floes ride downstream. Birth…death…light and shadow. With spring: rebirth, new beginnings. My "River Songs" paintings probe life beneath the surface. Each painting is a translucent, watery color surface, creating depth, reflection and possibility.
